Learn Gauge & Make It Fit!
Teacher: Jill Tamminen
Cost: $70
When: Thursday, May 21, 6:008:00pm
Description: Never make an ill-fitting sweater again! In this class led by Jill Tamminen from Knit Sisu, you will learn the mysteries behind gauge swatching, why it’s important, and what to do if the gauge does not match a pattern. Also, in transferring gauge information to a pattern, youll learn the skills and techniques necessary to tailor a sweater pattern specifically to your taste and make it fit every time!
Youll leave this class with a lot of new information and confidence, along with a free copy of the Knit Sisu Make It Fit Guide as a bonus. Jill will provide sample gauge swatches for you to practice with, but feel free to bring in your own swatches of different size yarn and needle combinations, and/or any ill-fitting sweaters to examine sizing.
Prerequisites: Participants should be confident in basic knitting skills, including casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off.
Homework: Optional: make a swatch beforehand. Using light-colored worsted weight yarn (we suggest Berroco Vintage or Lanas) and size US7 or 8 needles, cast on 30 sts, work in stockinette stitch (*knit one row, purl one row, repeat from *) for 2. Do not bind off.
Min/max number of participants: 4/10
