A richly textured neckwarmer in three sizes (S/M/L) that features an openwork panel in leaf motif with button closure along one side. Choose a soft but springy yarn for a cowl that supports itself nicely while allowing the welted fabric to slump into a slight slouch to one side.
Suggested Yarns:Stone Soup DK,Kent DK,Better Breakfast DK, Ginny DK, Targhee Tango Sport,Confection Sport, or any soft, springy DK yarn that knits to pattern gauge
Substituting yarn and/or needles may result in an overall variation in size and elasticity.

Finished Size:
18(20, 22) inches in circumference and 5.5(7, 8.5) inches in depth
Yarn Requirements:
125(150, 180) yards
Buttons:
4(5, 6) round buttons that are .375 inch in diameter
Gauge:
17 sts and 30 rows = 4 inches in stockinette (washed and laid flat to dry)

Needles:size 7US(4.5 mm) 24-inch circular needle (or size to obtain correct gauge)
