Description

The Schacht Bulky Flyer Package adds bulky-yarn and plying capability to any current Schacht spinning wheel. The standard flyer’s orifice and bobbin can’t accommodate chunky yarn, multi-ply combinations, or art yarn at scale. The Bulky Flyer’s wider 7/8 In orifice and large-capacity Bulky Bobbin handle yarn that would jam or overflow the regular flyer.

This is the wheel-specific package: select your wheel from the variants. Each variant ships with the Bulky Flyer assembly, one Bulky Bobbin, and the wheel-specific Bulky Front Maiden and bearing. Made in Boulder, Colorado.

Whorl ratios are unchanged

Switching to the Bulky Flyer does not change your whorl ratios. The same whorl set works at the same ratios whether you’re spinning singles on the standard flyer or chunky yarn on the bulky flyer. No range is lost when adding bulky capability.

Bobbins on the bulky flyer shaft

Standard, Travel, and High Speed bobbins all fit on the Bulky Flyer shaft. A spinner who owns the Bulky Flyer Package can use existing bobbins without swapping flyers. Only the Bulky Bobbin requires the bulky flyer; it will not fit on a standard flyer.

• Sidekick, Ladybug, or Flatiron: one package each, no further selection needed
• Matchless: requires identifying the front-maiden style. Quick Release Lever (QRL) is the current production style; T Knob is the older style. Pull a photo of your front maiden if unsure, and contact us before ordering

For spinners with multiple Schacht wheels: the Bulky Flyer and Bulky Bobbin will work across the wheels you own. Order the Bulky Flyer Package for one wheel, then add additional Bulky Front Maidens (sold separately) for each other wheel.
